­Project News for the Week of September 14

Weather permitting, a project milestone will be complete this week as traffic is realigned onto the final section of eastbound concrete pavement from 80th Street to Federal Boulevard. This realignment is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 10 p.m.-5:30 a.m. Eastbound traffic can anticipate single lane closures for the realignment.

Westbound traffic, from Wadsworth Parkway to Interlocken Loop, will be realigned onto the concrete pavement on Saturday, Sept. 20, 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m. Various singles lane closures will be in place during the realignment.

Because of rainy weather, the McCaslin deck pour, previously scheduled for this past week, was postponed and rescheduled for Monday, Sept. 15, 10 p.m.-5:30 a.m. This activity will require a closure of eastbound and westbound US 36 approximately a quarter of a mile on each side of the McCaslin Boulevard bridge. Traffic will be detoured at the off-ramps and routed immediately back onto US 36 via the on-ramps. The highway will also be closed on Friday, Sept. 19, 10 p.m.-5:30 a.m., between Interlocken Loop and McCaslin Boulevard for extensive drainage and utility work. A detour and signage will be in place to guide motorists.

Federal Boulevard On-Ramp to Eastbound US 36 Lane Restrictions

The Federal Boulevard on-ramp to eastbound US 36 will have a daytime single lane restriction, Sept. 15-19, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., for ramp meter installation. One lane will remain open.

Federal to Church Ranch Boulevard

Westbound US 36 Single Lane Restrictions

Westbound US 36 will have single lane restrictions from Federal to Sheridan Boulevard, Sept. 15-20, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and 8 p.m.-5:30 a.m. One lane will remain open at all times.

Sheridan Boulevard Ramp Restrictions

There will be single lane restrictions, Sept. 15-20, 7 a.m.-5 p.m., on all of the Sheridan Boulevard on- and off-ramps as ramp tie-ins are completed to connect to the new Sheridan bridge in October.

Church Ranch Boulevard On- and Off-Ramp Lane Restrictions

The Church Ranch Boulevard on-ramp to eastbound US 36 and the eastbound US 36 off-ramp to Church Ranch Boulevard will have a single daytime lane restriction, Sept. 15-20, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., to complete the curb and gutter, and sign installation.

Single Lane Restrictions

Expect single lane restrictions, Sept. 14-20, 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m., on eastbound and westbound US 36 from Federal Boulevard to Church Ranch Boulevard for the upcoming traffic realignment and dirt hauling.

Wadsworth Parkway to 88th Street

Westbound Traffic Realignment from Wadsworth Parkway to Interlocken Loop

Westbound US 36 traffic, from Wadsworth Parkway to Interlocken Loop, will be realigned onto the new concrete pavement on Saturday, Sept. 20, 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m. During these times, expect various single lane restrictions in this area. RTD routes will not be impacted.

US 36 Single Lane Restrictions

Eastbound and westbound US 36 will have nightly single lane restrictions, Sept. 14-20, 8 p.m.-5:30 a.m., from 88th Street to Church Ranch Boulevard. These lane restrictions are necessary for dirt and concrete hauling, paving, and barrier removal and placement.

Wadsworth Parkway On-Ramp Lane Restrictions

The northbound Wadsworth Parkway on-ramps to eastbound and westbound US 36 will have single lane restrictions for light and meter installation, Sept. 15-19, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. One lane will remain open at all times.

Wadsworth Parkway Ramp Restrictions

The westbound US 36 off-ramp to Wadsworth Parkway and the northbound Wadsworth Parkway loop-ramp to westbound US 36 will be closed Sept. 15-18, 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m., and Sept. 19 and 20, 10 p.m.–8 a.m., for dirt hauling activities. Detours will be clearly marked.

West Flatiron On-Ramp to Westbound US 36 Restriction

The West Flatiron on-ramp to westbound US 36 will be closed nightly, Sept. 15-20, 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m., for bridge painting. Detour routes will be clearly marked.

Eastbound and Westbound US 36 (Church Ranch Boulevard to McCaslin Boulevard) Delays

Expect up to 15-minute closures and delays on eastbound and westbound US 36, between Church Ranch Boulevard and McCaslin Boulevard, Sept. 15-20, midnight-4 a.m., for overhead sign structure installation. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternate routes.

88th Street to Foothills Parkway

US 36 Single Lane Restrictions

Eastbound and westbound US 36 will have nightly single lane restrictions from the 88th Street bridge to Foothills Parkway, Sept. 15-20, 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m., for barrier removal and installation.

McCaslin Boulevard and Ramp Restrictions

The McCaslin interchange, including the on- and off-ramps and McCaslin Boulevard between Dillon and Marshall Road, will have lane restrictions, Sept. 14-20, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m. One lane will remain open in each direction at all times. RTD operations will not be impacted.

US 36 Closure at McCaslin
Eastbound and westbound US 36 will be closed Monday, Sept. 15, 10 p.m.-5:30 a.m., for approximately a quarter of a mile on each side of the McCaslin Boulevard bridge. The closure is necessary to pour the deck on the McCaslin bridge. Traffic will be detoured at the off-ramps and routed immediately back onto eastbound and westbound US 36 via the on-ramps. RTD bus routes will not be impacted and signage will be in place to guide motorists.

US 36 Closure Interlocken to McCaslin

Eastbound andwestbound US 36 will be closed between Interlocken Loop and McCaslin Boulevard on Friday, Sept. 19, 10 p.m.-5:30 a.m., for extensive drainage and utility work. A detour and signage will be in place to guide motorists. RTD buses will also follow the detour.

Foothills Parkway Ramp Restrictions

The Foothills Parkway on-ramp to eastbound US 36 and the westbound US 36 off-ramp to Foothills Parkway will have daytime and nighttime single lane restrictions, Sept. 15-20, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and 7 p.m.-7 a.m., for striping and roadway work. One lane will remain open in each direction at all times.

Local Street Restrictions and Ongoing Closures

South Boulder Creek Trail ClosureThrough Thursday, Oct. 2, modifications to the South Boulder Creek Trail will be in effect on either side of US 36. Expect intermittent delays of 10-15 minutes on the trail while crews make necessary improvements to the South Boulder Creek bridge. For the safety of the traveling public, flaggers will be on-site to assist pedestrians and bike riders in this area.

Sheridan Boulevard Single Lane Restrictions – Northbound and southbound Sheridan Boulevard will have single lane restrictions from 92nd to 88th Street, Sept. 8-13, 8 p.m.-5:30 a.m.

East Turnpike Drive Closure For the safety of the traveling public, Turnpike Drive to the east and west of Lowell Boulevard is closed to all through traffic. This closure is necessary to construct the noise walls and relocate utilities on eastbound US 36. Flaggers will be on site and local traffic will be allowed through the work zone.
