Project News for the Week of Dec. 1
The concrete bridge deck for the Lowell Boulevard bridge will be poured this week. Traffic on US 36 will not be impacted. Expect a single lane restriction on Lowell Boulevard directly under the bridge on US 36, Dec. 3-7.
Approximately 8.5 lane miles of concrete paving and an additional 3.6 miles of bus on shoulder paving on the eastbound side of the corridor is complete. While this milestone is significant, paving operations will continue into 2014.
Federal to Sheridan Boulevard
US 36 Bridge Deck Pour over Lowell Boulevard
Expect daytime restrictions on Lowell Boulevard, Dec. 3-7, 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m., for a deck pour. For the safety of the traveling public, Lowell Boulevard will be reduced to a single lane. Flaggers will assist motorists through the construction area. After the deck is poured, construction on the westbound portion of this bridge will begin.
Eastbound and Westbound US 36 Single Lane Restrictions
There will be daytime and nighttime single lane restrictions on eastbound and westbound US 36 from Sheridan to Federal Boulevard, Dec. 2-7. These restrictions are necessary for various construction activities, including median barrier demo, grading, paving, concrete hauling and sign removals.
Sheridan Boulevard to Church Ranch Boulevard
Promenade Drive Underpass Single Lane Restriction
On Dec. 2-6, 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m., the Promenade Drive underpass just to the west of Church Ranch Boulevard will be reduced to a single lane with flaggers. This restriction is necessary for structure work completion on the US 36 bridge over Promenade Drive. Flaggers will assist pedestrians and traffic in the area. RTD bus operations will not be impacted.
Sheridan Boulevard On-Ramp to Eastbound US 36 Lane Restriction
The Sheridan Boulevard on-ramp to eastbound US 36 will have daytime and nighttime single lane restrictions, Dec. 2-7, for dirt hauling. RTD bus operations will not be impacted.
Sheridan Boulevard Single Lane Restrictions
Northbound and southbound Sheridan Boulevard will be reduced to a single lane, Dec. 2-6, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and 7 p.m.-6 a.m., for striping, earthwork, paving and traffic realignment.
Eastbound US 36 Single Lane Restriction — Uptown Avenue Bridge to Sheridan Boulevard
There will be a single lane restriction on eastbound US 36 from the Uptown Avenue bridge to Sheridan Boulevard, Dec. 2-7, 8 p.m.-5:30 a.m., for dirt hauling.
Church Ranch Boulevard to Wadsworth Parkway
Church Ranch Boulevard Ramp Lane Restrictions
The Church Ranch Boulevard on-ramp to eastbound US 36 will have daytime and nighttime single right lane restrictions for dirt hauling. There will be intermittent delays. Please reduce your speed in this area and watch for increased truck traffic. RTD operations will not be impacted.
Wadsworth Parkway to 88th Street
Northbound and Southbound Wadsworth Parkway Single Lane Restrictions
Wadsworth Parkway, near the bridge over US 36, will be reduced to a single lane in both directions, Dec. 2-7, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.-5 a.m., for dirt hauling, pipe work and roadway completion. Flaggers will assist motorists through the work zone, but expect short delays.
Single Lane Restrictions
Nightly single lane restrictions are scheduled, Dec. 2-7, 8 p.m.-5:30 a.m., on eastbound and westbound US 36 from Table Mesa Drive to Church Ranch Boulevard. These lane restrictions are necessary for dirt and concrete hauling, paving, striping, temporary barrier placement, survey and potholing.
88th Street to Foothills Parkway
Single Lane Restrictions
Eastbound and westbound US 36 will have single lane restrictions from the 88th Street bridge to Foothills Parkway, Dec. 2-7, 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m., for roadway survey, striping and potholing. One lane of travel will remain open at all times.
Northbound and Southbound Sheridan Boulevard Weekend Closure
To realign traffic onto the new Sheridan Boulevard bridge, a weekend closure of northbound and southbound Sheridan Boulevard at the bridge over US 36 is necessary, starting Friday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. through Monday, Dec. 16 at 5:30 a.m.
Eastbound and Westbound US 36 Closure Under the Sheridan Bridge
Once traffic is realigned onto the new Sheridan bridge, the old structure will be demolished. This work will take place nightly, Dec. 16-20, 10 p.m.-5:30 a.m. For the safety of the traveling public, eastbound and westbound US 36 will be closed directly under the bridge structure. Traffic will be detoured onto the on- and off-ramps at Sheridan Boulevard. RTD bus routes will not be impacted.
Truck Hauling Activities – As part of the US 36 Express Lanes Project, daytime and nighttime truck hauling activities are scheduled in the area of US 36 and Cherryvale Road, December 2013 through spring 2014. To reduce the impact to the traveling public, a temporary dirt ramp has been constructed at the existing Cherryvale overpass for construction access only – not for the traveling public. This access point will be flagged during hauling operations, which will not take place during peak travel times.
US 36 & Westminster Center Park-n-Ride Facility Eastbound Loading Area Relocation – The eastbound bus loading area has been temporarily relocated to the internal parking lot until Dec. 16 while the new Park-n-Ride facility is constructed. Routes will not be impacted, and areas are clearly marked.
Northbound 92nd Avenue Ramp Closure – The ramp from northbound 92nd Avenue to Sheridan Boulevard will remain closed through spring 2014 for the construction of the new Sheridan Boulevard interchange.
88th Place Right Turn Lane Restriction – The right turn lane from 88th Place to northbound Sheridan Boulevard will remain closed through June 2014. This closure is necessary to complete the final configuration of the new Sheridan Boulevard interchange.
Scenic Overlook Closure – The scenic overlook on westbound US 36 (just west of McCaslin Boulevard) will remain closed through fall 2014. This closure is necessary to ensure the safety of the traveling public for Phase 2 construction.
