Project News for the Week of March 3
With inclement weather forecasted throughout the week, many scheduled construction activities may be impacted. The advertised closures and lane restrictions will be evaluated on a daily basis. Watch for updates on the project website at www.us36expresslanes.com and on the mobile website at m.us36expresslanes.com.
A four- to seven-night full closure of eastbound and westbound US 36, from Church Ranch Boulevard to Wadsworth Parkway, is necessary for work on the Promenade and BNSF Railway bridges. This closure is currently scheduled at the following times:
- March 8, 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m.
- March 9-12, 10 p.m.-5:30 a.m.
- March 13 and 14, 10 p.m.-7 a.m.
The detour is below, and signage will be in the area to guide the traveling public. All affected RTD bus stops, including the US 36 & Church Ranch Park-n-Ride and the US 36 & Broomfield Park-n-Ride, will be temporarily relocated. Signs will be posted to direct riders to the temporary bus stops.
Once the bridge work is completed, the highway will reopen and the additional nights of closures will be cancelled.
Federal to Church Ranch Boulevard
Westbound US 36 Off-Ramp to Sheridan Boulevard Nightly Restrictions
The westbound US 36 off-ramp to Sheridan Boulevard will be closed nightly March 1-5, 10 p.m.-5:30 a.m. and March 6 and 7, 11 p.m.-8 a.m., for grading, base placement, barrier realignment and paving. The RTD bus ramp will remain open with flaggers. All other traffic will follow the designated detour route.
Northbound and Southbound Sheridan Boulevard Nightly Lane Restrictions
Northbound and southbound Sheridan Boulevard will have nightly single lane restrictions for approximately 75 feet on each of side of the bridge over US 36, March 1-7, 10 p.m.-5:30 a.m., for wall construction and permanent sign installation. One lane will remain open at all times.
Eastbound and Westbound US 36 Single Lane Restrictions
Eastbound and westbound US 36 will have intermittent single lane restrictions from Federal to Sheridan Boulevard, March 1-7, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m., for roadway and ramp construction, sign installation and paving. One lane will remain open at all times.
Wadsworth Parkway to 88th Street
Eastbound and Westbound US 36 (Interlocken to McCaslin) Delays
Expect up to 15-minute delays on eastbound and westbound US 36, between Interlocken and McCaslin Boulevard, March 2-7, midnight-4 a.m., for overhead sign installation. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternate routes.
US 36 Single Lane Restrictions
Eastbound and westbound US 36, from 88th Street to Church Ranch Boulevard, will have nightly single lane restrictions, March 1-7, 8 p.m.-5:30 a.m. These lane restrictions are necessary for dirt and concrete hauling, paving, and barrier removal and placement.
88th Street to Foothills Parkway
US 36 Single Lane Restrictions
Eastbound and westbound US 36, from the 88th Street bridge to Foothills Parkway, will have nightly single lane restrictions as needed, March 1-7, 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m., for traffic realignment, striping, paving and roadway maintenance.
Westbound US 36 Off-Ramp to McCaslin Boulevard Restrictions
The westbound US 36 off-ramp to McCaslin Boulevard will be closed March 4 and 5, 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m., for barrier placement and realignment. Alternate routes are advised. Traffic will be detoured to Foothills Parkway, and RTD buses will follow the detour route. The ramp will reopen as soon as work is completed.
McCaslin Boulevard and Ramp Restrictions
The McCaslin interchange, including ramps, and McCaslin Boulevard between Dillon and Marshall Road, will have various intermittent lane restrictions, March 1-7, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m., for paving and striping. One lane will remain open in each direction at all times. RTD operations will not be impacted.
Local Street Restrictions and Ongoing Closures
South Boulder Creek Trail Closure – The South Boulder Creek Trail will be closed on either side of US 36 until Sunday, March 15. The trail between South Boulder Road and Marshall Road will remain open, however, for the safety of the traveling public, access under US 36 will not be allowed. This closure is necessary for the improvements being made to the South Boulder Creek bridge.
Turnpike Drive Restrictions – Turnpike Drive to the east of Lowell Boulevard will be reduced to a single lane with flaggers for utility, pipe and sign installation. Flaggers will be on-site and local traffic will be allowed through the work zone.
Northbound/Southbound Lane Restrictions on Wadsworth Boulevard
There will be lane restrictions on northbound and southbound Wadsworth Boulevard beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, March 13, and will remain in place through 5 a.m. on Monday, March 16, for median work. One lane will remain open in each direction, and all eastbound and westbound US 36 access will remain open from both directions.
