Project News for the Week of March 9
On Saturday, March 8, eastbound and westbound US 36 will be closed from Interlocken Loop to McCaslin Boulevard, 10 p.m.-7:30 a.m., for a utility bridge demolition. See below for more
The eastbound US 36 traffic realignment from 88th Street to Wadsworth Parkway will be occurring in the coming weeks. Due to the increase of work in this area (ramp completions, sign installations and paving operations), state and local law enforcement patrols will also be increased. Be aware that the posted speed limit on US 36 is still 55 miles per hour through the construction zone.
Federal to Sheridan Boulevard
US 36 Off-Ramps to Sheridan Turn Lane Restriction
The US 36 off-ramps to Sheridan Boulevard will have left turn lane restrictions, March 10-14, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., for bridge excavation work. One turn lane will remain open on each ramp.
The eastbound US 36 off-ramp to Sheridan Boulevard will be closed nightly March 12 and 13, 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m., to install foundations for the new lighting structure. RTD bus operations will be flagged through the work zone. Detour routes will be clearly marked.
Eastbound US 36 Single Lane Restrictions
There will be single lane restrictions on eastbound US 36 from east of Church Ranch to Federal Boulevard, March 10-15, 10 p.m.-5:30 a.m., for wall and barrier construction, grading, and paving.
Westbound US 36 Single Lane Restrictions
There will be single lane restrictions on westbound US 36 from Federal Boulevard to east of Church Ranch, March 10-15, 8 p.m.-5:30 a.m. These lane restrictions are necessary for median barrier demolition and installation, grading, paving and concrete hauling.
Sheridan Boulevard to Wadsworth Parkway
Eastbound US 36 Off-Ramp to Wadsworth Parkway Restriction
On Wednesday, March 12, 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m., the eastbound US 36 off-ramp to Wadsworth Parkway will have a single left lane restriction for seeding and mulching. One lane on the ramp will remain open.
Eastbound US 36 Single Lane Restriction
There will be a nightly single lane restriction on eastbound US 36 east of the 1STBank Center to Sheridan Boulevard, March 10, 8 p.m.-5:30 a.m., for dirt hauling and paving.
Wadsworth Parkway to 88th Street
Eastbound US 36 Off-Ramp to West Flatiron Closure
The eastbound US 36 off-ramp to West Flatiron Crossing Drive will be closed nightly, March 12 and 13, 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m., and March 14 and 15, 10 p.m.-8 a.m., for median and storm drain work. Traffic will be detoured to Interlocken Loop.
US 36 Single Lane Restrictions
Nightly single lane restrictions are scheduled March 10-15, 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m., on eastbound and westbound US 36 from 88th Street to Wadsworth Parkway. These lane restrictions are necessary for dirt and concrete hauling, paving, striping, temporary barrier placement, surveying and repairing potholes.
88th Street to Foothills Parkway
Eastbound and Westbound US 36 Full Closure
On Saturday, March 8, 10 p.m.-7:30 a.m., eastbound and westbound US 36 will be closed from Interlocken Loop to McCaslin Boulevard for a utility bridge demolition. Motorists should use alternate routes or expect additional travel time. To view the detour go to www.us36expresslanes.com. Traffic will remain in a single lane through 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning in each direction to complete the work in this area.
US 36 Single Lane Restrictions
Eastbound and westbound US 36 will have nightly single lane restrictions from the 88th Street bridge to Foothills Parkway, March 10-15, 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m., for striping, pothole repair, barrier installation and survey work. One lane of travel will remain open at all times.
Eastbound US 36 off-Ramp to Foothills Parkway Restriction
On Wednesday, March 12, the eastbound US 36 off-ramp to Foothills Parkway will be closed, 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m., for utility trenching. The detour will be clearly marked.
Local Street Restrictions and Closures
East Flatiron Crossing Drive Single Lane Restrictions
East Flatiron Crossing Drive will have daily single lane restrictions, March 10-14, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., for roadway and sidewalk work. One lane of travel will remain open at all times.
Lowell Boulevard Single Lane Restrictions
On March 10-15, 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Lowell Boulevard will be reduced to a single lane for approximately a quarter of a mile in each direction under the US 36 bridge. Flaggers will be on site to assist the traveling public.
McCaslin Boulevard Single Lane Restrictions
There will be single lane restrictions on McCaslin Boulevard and the US 36 ramps, March 17-21, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m. The lane restrictions are necessary for surveying, boring and utility relocations. These weekday restrictions will continue over the next several months.
Eastbound US 36 Off-Ramp to Wadsworth Parkway Restrictions
Weather and schedule permitting, the eastbound US 36 off-ramp to Wadsworth Parkway will be closed Friday, March 21 at 9 p.m. through Monday, March 24 at 5:30 a.m. Detours will be clearly marked. Alternate routes are advised. This closure is necessary to complete the ramp tie in to the new bridge.
Northbound 92nd Avenue Ramp Closure – The ramp from northbound 92nd Avenue to Sheridan Boulevard will remain closed through spring 2014 for the construction of the new Sheridan Boulevard interchange.
88th Place Right Turn Lane Restriction – The right turn lane from 88th Place to northbound Sheridan Boulevard will remain closed through June 2014. This closure is necessary to complete the final configuration of the new Sheridan Boulevard interchange.
Scenic Overlook Closure – The scenic overlook on westbound US 36 (just west of McCaslin Boulevard) will remain closed through fall 2014. This closure is necessary to ensure the safety of the traveling public for Phase 2 construction.
East Turnpike Drive Closure – For the safety of the traveling public, Turnpike Drive and the adjacent bike path from east of Lowell Boulevard to Federal Boulevard, will be closed to all through traffic through the summer of 2014. This closure is necessary to construct the noise walls and relocate utilities on eastbound US 36. Local traffic will be allowed through the work zone.

**Should an accident occur on the highway, please adhere to Colorado Revised Statute 42-4-1602, which says to move the vehicles safely off of the highway to the shoulder, the nearest suitable cross street, emergency pullout or other suitable location, to prevent the obstruction of traffic.
