Project News for the Week of May 19
The girder installation on the Uptown Avenue (Old Wadsworth) bridge is complete after 22 girders and all of the precast deck panels were successfully installed over eight nights. The next milestone for structures is scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, when the bridge deck will be poured on the Wadsworth Parkway bridge. Approximately 1,700 cubic yards of concrete will be placed to form the deck. This work will require the closure of US 36 in both directions directly under the bridge for safety. Traffic will be detoured on and off the exit ramps, but minimal delays are still expected.
Also, dirt hauling operations will affect traffic on north and southbound Wadsworth Parkway on May 22-25, 10 p.m.-5:30 a.m. (see below for detailed information).

East and westbound US 36 will be closed on Tuesday, May 21, 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m., for a quarter mile in each direction under the bridge. This closure is necessary for safety to pour concrete on the new bridge deck. Traffic will be detoured off of east and westbound US 36 at the exit ramps and immediately routed back onto the highway via the on-ramps. Minimal delays are expected. RTD operations will not be impacted.
BNSF Bridge Demolition
The BNSF bridge, located to the north of the Walnut Creek Shopping Center, is scheduled to be partially demolished starting Monday, May 20, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. This work will not impact traffic.
