Project Update for the Week of June 26

In observance of the upcoming holiday, there will be no traffic impacts to the traveling public after noon on Friday, July 1.  Work will resume at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5.

US 36 Bikeway Detour at Turnpike Drive
Bicyclists using the US 36 Bikeway between Turnpike Drive and Sheridan Boulevard should anticipate a detour starting Thursday, June 23 through Tuesday, June 28 at 7 p.m. The detour is necessary for additional fiber and concrete work. Signage will be in place to guide the traveling public, and travel impacts will be minimal.

US 36 Bikeway Closed Under McCaslin Boulevard
The bikeway under the westbound US 36 off-ramp to McCaslin Boulevard will be closed for approximately one month starting on June 23 through July 20. The detour route will be clearly marked.  Bicyclists will be detoured crossing Marshall and Dillion Roads and are advised to use caution. The closure is necessary for wall construction inside the tunnel.Bikeway Closure

Final Surface Smoothing
Expect some daytime and nighttime delays on eastbound and westbound US 36 for final surface activities. As the project nears completion, final striping, grading, landscaping and surface smoothing will be ongoing. Throughout the week, multiple ramp closures are scheduled to complete these activities. See below for specific days and times.

During the week of June 26-30, the following ramps will be closed, 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m.:

Sunday, June 26

  • Eastbound US 36 on- and off-ramps to McCaslin Boulevard
  • Eastbound US 36 on-ramp to Foothills Parkway

Monday, June 27-Tuesday, June 28

  • Eastbound US 36 Wadsworth Parkway on- and off-ramps
  • Eastbound US 36 on- and off-ramps to McCaslin Boulevard

Wednesday, June 29- Thursday, June 30

  • Westbound US 36 on- and off-ramps to McCaslin Boulevard
  • Westbound US 36 Wadsworth Parkway on- and off-ramps

Signage will be placed to guide the traveling public. If work is completed prior to the posted time, the ramp will reopen. Detour routes are advertised after the closure to eliminate confusion if motorists miss signage prior to the advertised closures.

Eastbound and Westbound US 36 Restrictions
Expect various nighttime lane restrictions for final surface testing from Federal Boulevard to Foothills Parkway, June 26-30, 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m. One lane will remain open at all times.
