Project News for the Week of May 24
In observance of the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, no work will take place on Sunday, May 24 or Monday, May 25.
Weather permitting, the final two miles of eastbound US 36 traffic will be realigned from East Flatiron to 88th Street on Tuesday, May 26. Expect single lane and ramp restrictions, 9 p.m.- 5:30 a.m., as this final segment is completed in this area.
Express Lane Restrictions
The westbound US 36 Express Lane from Federal to Interlocken, and the eastbound Express Lane from West Flatiron to Sheridan will have intermittent day time closures, May 26-30, 10 a.m.- 3 p.m., for final completion of the median barrier, device installation and testing. Motorists will not be allowed entry during construction.
Expect daytime single lane closures, May 26-30, 7 a.m.-6 p.m., on northbound and southbound I-25 from Clear Creek to 48th Avenue. These restrictions are necessary for bridge work.
Day and night single lane Express Lane restrictions continue, May 26-30, on northbound and southbound I-25 at 70th Avenue and Clear Creek (where the US 36 ramp and the I-25 ramp converge) for bridge structure work. US 36 traffic will merge with I-25 traffic to a single lane in this location. Expect delays during peak times. Alternate routes are available to US 36 commuters to bypass the construction, which include Broadway to 70th Avenue to the Express Lanes.
The narrowed single lane on the 20th Street bridge is now in effect and will remain in this configuration through mid-June.
Federal to Church Ranch Boulevard
Drainage and striping completion work will take place on the westbound US 36 on- and off-ramps, May 26-30, 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m. Please be aware that no two consecutive ramps will be closed at the same time to minimize detours. The work will be completed on one ramp, and crews will move throughout the night to the next ramp. Once the work is complete, the ramp will reopen, possibly earlier than the posted closure time. Expect nightly impacts at the following locations:
- Westbound US 36 on- and off-ramps to Church Ranch Boulevard
- Westbound US 36 on- and off-ramps to Sheridan Boulevard
- Federal Boulevard on-ramp to westbound US 36
- Westbound US 36 on- and off-ramps to Interlocken
- Eastbound US 36 on- and off-ramps to Wadsworth Parkway
RTD buses will be flagged through the closures.
Eastbound and Westbound US 36 Single Lane Restrictions
Eastbound and westbound US 36 will have intermittent single lane restrictions from Federal to Sheridan Boulevard, May 26-30, at the following times:
- Eastbound US 36 – 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m.
- Westbound US 36 – 10 a.m.-3 p.m., and 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m.
The restrictions are necessary for sign installations, striping and landscaping. Expect delays in the area if traveling at night. One lane will remain open at all times.
Sheridan Boulevard Northbound and Southbound Nightly Lane Restrictions
Northbound and southbound Sheridan Boulevard will have various single lane restrictions for approximately ¼ of a mile on each side of the bridge, May 26-30, 8 p.m.-5:30 a.m., for wall construction, striping and landscaping. One lane will remain open in each direction at all times.
Church Ranch Boulevard Northbound and Southbound Daytime Lane Restrictions
Northbound and southbound Church Ranch Boulevard will have various single lane restrictions for approximately 100 yards on each side of the bridge, May 27-28, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., for traffic light installation. One lane will remain open in each direction at all times.
Church Ranch to to 88th Street
Traffic Realignment/ Ramp Closures – 88th Street to East Flatiron
Weather permitting, eastbound US 36 traffic continues to be realigned from 88th Street to East Flatiron. This final alignment is scheduled on Tuesday, May 26, 9 p.m. – 5:30 a.m. Expect various single lane restrictions on US 36 during these times. The following ramps will be impacted and closed throughout the night as ramp tie-ins are completed. Once the tie-in work is complete, the ramp will reopen, possibly earlier than the posted closure time:
- Eastbound US 36 off-ramp to West Flatiron – 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m.
- Eastbound US 36 on- and off-ramps to Interlocken Loop – 8 p.m.-5:30 a.m.
- East Flatiron on-ramp to eastbound US 36 – 7 p.m.-5:30 a.m.
No two consecutive ramps will be closed at the same time. RTD buses will be flagged through the closures.
Eastbound and Westbound US 36 (Broadway to Sheridan) Delays
Expect up to 15-minute delays on eastbound and westbound US 36, between Broadway and Sheridan Boulevard, May 26-30, midnight-4 a.m., for overhead sign installation. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternate routes.
US 36 Single Lane Restrictions
Eastbound and westbound US 36, from the 88th Street bridge to Wadsworth Parkway, will have nightly single lane restrictions as needed, May 26-30, 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m. These lane restrictions are necessary for sweeping, striping, barrier work and sign installation.
88th Street to Foothills Parkway
McCaslin Boulevard and Ramp Restrictions
The McCaslin interchange, including the on- and off-ramps, and McCaslin Boulevard between Dillon and Marshall Road, will have lane restrictions, May 26-30, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., and 9 p.m. – 5:30 a.m., for paving and striping.
A section of the McCaslin Boulevard bridge removal will require a two-night closure of eastbound and westbound US 36 underneath the bridge on June 8 and 9, 10 p.m. – 5:30 a.m. Additional nights should be anticipated. Traffic will be directed off of the highway via the McCaslin on- and off-ramps and be placed immediately back onto the highway. Traffic control will be in the area to assist during the detour.
The Sheridan Boulevard on-ramp to eastbound US 36 will be closed to all through traffic, excluding RTD buses, starting June 5 at 10 p.m. through Monday, June 8 at 5:30 a.m. This closure is necessary for pavement and barrier completion work. Sheridan Boulevard On-Ramp to Eastbound US 36 Closure
